The International Journal of Geospatial and Environmental Research (IJGER) is an international journal that provides a forum for discussion among researchers in geography and related fields. It covers diverse fields of geography and environmental sciences with a spatial dimension, and publishes original research papers, review articles, and short communications on academic activities.
The Editors invite submission of papers that can be considered for inclusion in the special issue of IJGER, which is scheduled to be published by April 15, 2015.
We welcome contributions dealing with a variety of geospatial technologies (e.g., GIS, Remote Sensing, Spatial Statistics) and topics that address disasters and hazards in either natural or urban or coupled human and natural environment.
The catastrophic consequences of disasters and hazards around the globe highlight the necessity of understanding a spatial perspective to disasters and hazards. We are interested in receiving research articles dealing with innovative examples of the use of GIS, RS, Geovisualization, or Spatial Statistics for disaster and hazard planning, mitigation, response, assessment, or management.
The potential research topics for this special issue include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Environmental contamination, degradation and its impact on human health
· Risk and vulnerability of population by disasters and hazards
· Human impact of disasters and hazards
· Human responses to disasters and hazards
· Damage potential and risk exposure
· Pre and post assessment
· Disaster mitigation and response
· Emergency management
· Climate change, warning systems, hazard mitigation
· Superfund sites
· Floods, hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, tornados, etc.
We welcome full-length papers as well as focused contributions and short case study examples. The papers show our range of coverage, our depth of peer review, and our high standards.
