Special issue on “Geospatial Analysis of Urban Environment”

International Journal of Geospatial and Environmental Research

The International Journal of Geospatial and Environmental Research (IJGER) is an international journal that is published by KAGES (Korea–America Association for Geospatial and Environmental Sciences) in English. The Journal will provide a forum for discussion among researchers in geography and related fields in Korea, East Asia, and around the world. It covers all fields of geography and environmental sciences with a spatial dimension, and publishes original research papers, review articles, and short communications on academic activities.

The Editors invite submission of papers that can be considered for inclusion in the special issue of IJGER, which is scheduled to be published by June 30, 2014.

We welcome contributions dealing with a variety of geospatial technologies (e.g., GIS, remote sensing, spatial analysis) and topics that address Issues, analysis and critiques in urban environment.

As more than half of world population presently lives in urban areas, many cities are facing multiple social and environmental challenges. Geographical and spatial science perspectives are gaining importance in understanding the complex interactions and feedbacks between natural and human systems in the urban environment.

The potential research topics for this special issue include, but are not limited to, the following:

–                      Biophysical processes and spatial patterns in urban environment,

–                      Human/cultural processes and spatial patterns of them

–                      Management of urban natural resources,

–                      Landscape ecology and urban environmental issues,

–                      Remote sensing, geographic information science and their applications in urban geographical research.

We welcome full-length papers as well as focused contributions and short case study examples.
