2019 KAGES Sim Travel Award
Now accepting applications for 2019 KAGES Sim Student Travel Award!
Dr. Sim, Sun Hui is currently a faculty member in the Geography Department at the University of North
Alabama. Through her generous sponsorship, “Sim Student Travel Award” was established in 2010 to provide financial assistance to graduate students in the research field of Geography, Geospatial Technologies and Environmental Sciences. This scholarship is particularly designed to help meet the costs of travel to the annual meeting of the Association of American Geographers (AAG). This award is for supporting the work of students who implement GIS/RS/Geospatial techniques into his/her research.

2019 KSEA Undergraduate and KSEA-KUSCO Graduate Scholarships Announcement
Dear KSEA members,
KSEA is pleased to announce the 2019 KSEA Undergraduate and KSEA-KUSCO Graduate Scholarships program.
Multiple scholarships for graduate and undergraduate students majoring in science, medicine, engineering, or related fields will be awarded in 2019.
The scholarships recognize outstanding students of Korean heritage who are excellent in academics as well as in service to the community and have the potential to become future leaders of society.
There are two scholarship categories this year;
KSEA Scholarships for Undergraduate Students in the US. (20 awards, $1,000 per each)
KSEA-KUSCO Scholarships for Graduate Students in the US. (20 awards, $1,500 per each)
The scholarship online application has opened on February 4, 2019.
All application materials for the 2019 Scholarship should be received by March 31, 2019, 5:00 PM (ET)

2019 Student Paper Award
The Student Paper Award aims to recognize high-quality student articles published in the fields of Geography, Geospatial Technologies, and Environmental Sciences. The KGS Student Paper Award (sponsored by the Korean Geographical Society, 대한 지리학회) and the KSEA Student Paper Award (sponsored by the Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association, 재미 한인 과학기술자 협회) will be given, with a maximum amount of $500 per awardee.
Eligibility
- KAGES student membership valid at the time of application.
- Applicants must be full-time graduate or undergraduate students in colleges/universities in North America.
- Former recipients of this award may re-apply after two years have passed since the award ceremony; namely, those who have received the award in the past two years are not allowed to join the current round of competition.
Application material
- KAGES Student Paper Award Application form: 2019_Paper_Award_Application
- 1-page curriculum vitae
- An article published or manuscript under review/revision for publication in a peer-reviewed journal in the field in calendar years 2017-2019. The applicant must be a single or first author of the article.
- A 1-page cover letter
- At least one letter of recommendation from an academic advisor or equivalent stating the contribution of the applicant for the project (Please arrange a letter to support@kages.org)
Application due date: Monday, February 18, 2019, 11:59 PM
Award notification: Monday, March 18, 2019
Award ceremony: 2019 KAGES Annual Meeting –
Thursday, April 4, 2019, 6:50-7:50 PM (place to be announced)
