2020 Sim Student Travel Award

Now accepting applications for 2020 KAGES Sim Student Travel Award!

Dr. Sunhui Sim is currently a faculty member in the Geography Department at the University of North Alabama. Through her generous sponsorship, “Sim Student Travel Award” was established in 2010 to provide financial assistance to graduate students in the research field of Geography, Geospatial Technologies and Environmental Sciences. This scholarship is particularly designed to help meet the costs of travel to the annual meeting of the Association of American Geographers (AAG). This award is for supporting the work of students who implement GIS/RS/Geospatial techniques into their research.

KAGES Travel Support

 

KAGES provides our members with travel support for participating in a scholarly conference or workshop. This KAGES Travel Support is sponsored by KSEA (Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association)

The amount of support will be up to $100 for a KAGES member. The support is available for up to 2 KAGES members per year. Funds are awarded on a first-come-first-serve basis after taking all other eligibility requirements into account. Each recipient of the award can receive the support up to one time per year.

Criteria for selection

1) The applicant is a KAGES member and has a valid KAGES membership at the time of application;

2) The applicant must contribute to KAGES by acknowledging the name of KAGES at a scholarly conference or workshop that needs a registration fee, excluding American Association of Geographers (AAG) Annual Meeting. For example, the applicant must advertise and promote KAGES and its travel support as the acknowledgment during the conference or workshop and the applicant’s presentation.

3) The application for this travel support can be submitted once in an academic year.

Due date

The application must be submitted at least 30 days prior to travel to support@kages.org for review by the KAGES Board

After receiving support

Upon return, the applicant must submit a written reflection about the participation in the conference or workshop within 30 days (Please, use the link to fill out and submit the conference reflection form) to the editor of KAGES Newsletter. The reflection will be published in the KAGES Newsletter.
